I tried the Yogi Detox tea for five days and this is my review. I bought this detox tea to help my stomach, which was all over the place after a stomach bug. My stomach has never been easy going to be honest. It might be a little too much information, but I’ve always had trouble with pooping. Meaning that I don’t have to go for at least four or five days. It just builds up in my stomach and it makes me feel constipated and full in an unpleasant way. That’s why it seemed a good idea to try this detox tea.
I bought this tea at Holland and Barret for €3,29. There’s 17 teabags in one box, which is good for a least two weeks if you have one cup a day. I tried a mini five-day detox with the Yogi Detox tea. I had one, sometimes two cups a day. I really wanted to stimulate my stomach and get rid of everything in it. The first time I had a cup of detox tea I ended up on the toilet within the hour. The herbs and spices really worked my stomach hard.
I could feel my stomach rumble, move and work to get everything out. I tried drinking the tea in the morning, in the afternoon and at night. I tried it on an empty and a full stomach. I personally had the best experience when I had my tea after lunch. For some reason it helped my already working stomach to really get the job done. I think it’s best to try out what works for you, since every stomach reacts different. I do have to say that it took some getting used to the effects of the Yogi Detox tea.
My stomach is quite sensitive, and it reacts quickly to new types of ingredients. Although the tea really helps me detox my stomach by pooping, it does feel a bit uncomfortable. The growling, bubbling and rumbling feeling in my stomach isn’t very nice. However, it’s great to finally poop after, haha! When it comes to detoxing or emptying my stomach, this Yogi Detox tea does really work for me. I want to explain why I think it works so well, because detox teas often are nothing but a hype.
This tea however isn’t really a tea in my opinion. There literally aren’t any tealeaves in this detox tea. The ingredients you will find in this ‘tea’ will be Indian Sarsaparilla root, Cinnamon bark, Ginger root, Licorice root, Burdock root, Dandelion root, Cardamom, Clove bud, black pepper, Juniper berry extract, Long pepper berry, Rhubarb root, Chinese Skullcap root, Coptis Root, Forsythia fruit, Gardenia fruit and Japanese Honeysuckle flower. As you can see it’s more of an herb and spice mix, which you can drink as tea.
This is important to know, because you shouldn’t expect a nice cup of tea. It’s more like a spicy broth which you can sweeten up with some honey or sugar. But it will never taste like a nice earl grey or green tea. The Yogi Detox tea could also be a spice mix for chicken, I bet you could make a good roast with it, haha! Back to the ingredients, because they are very beneficial for your body. Spices and herbs are known for their healing qualities, so this tea can be really good for you.
The reason why it works so well, is because all the spices and herbs in this tea will stimulate your stomach. It’s like eating a very spicy and hot dish, which has a lot of people sitting on the toilet after. Spicy and hot dishes often have ingredients like black pepper, Cardamom, Cloves and Ginger in it. Those spices are known for stimulating your stomach after eating them. Adding them all together in a detox tea definitely gives me the same effect as eating a hot dish. But that’s why it works so well, if you ask me.
