We’ve got one more month to go before spring official hits the Netherlands. My hay fever symptoms are already of the charts though, so I can literally feel it coming… Anyway, it’s still winter and I thought it would be a good idea to share some winter outfit inspiration. Mainly because it’s pretty hard to dress yourself with the ever-changing weathers. From sunny days, to storm and rain. A girl doesn’t know what to wear these days. It’s also still quite cold outside, which means we still get to use those wonderful winter pieces. But if you don’t know where to start, this article will help you move through this season in style. Let’s go!

The turtleneck
There’s one particular clothing piece I can’t live without during the winter: The turtleneck! Whether it’s a thin, a chunky or knitted version, the turtleneck is the perfect basic in any type of wardrobe. I have black and (cream) white turtlenecks in my capsule wardrobe. I use them for layering under overshirts, cardigans, blazers or as a piece on its own. I like wearing turtlenecks because they’re very flattering on my body type and keep me warm. They’re widely available in many colors and fabrics. I’d say it’s the perfect piece to create a winter outfit around.

A long blazer
Blazers never go out of style and I scored myself a really good one at H&M. This beautiful long blazer is sold out, but thankfully long blazers are now available in many stores in different styles and colors. The reason why I recommend a long blazer like this, is because you can also wear it as a dress. Add a nice lace body and wear biker shorts with a lace border underneath. It’s a very versatile piece that gives any outfit an instant upgrade. Especially tailored blazers help you create that hourglass silhouette we often look for. It also makes you look chic and business ready. I love blazers like this for my winter outfits.

Teddy coats and puffer jackets
These two pieces of outerwear are such a big staple in my winter capsule wardrobe. They are eyecatchers, trendsetters and overall super handy to have. Teddy coats give all your outfits a really cozy and warm look. Puffer coats have a really cool and sporty vibe. They’re available in a wide range of colors, so you can fit one that fits your style too. These coats come back in style every other year. Therefor it’s a good idea to invest in a teddy coat or a puffer jacket in a neutral color. Or maybe opt for a colorful version, especially when you want to add a pop of color to your winter outfits.

Cowboy and sock boots
I’ve never ever had cowboy boots before, but now that I have a pair I’m hooked! A good pair of cowboy boots can give your otherwise ordinary outfits a fun twist. Depending on the color and style, you can go a bit more boho or more towards the minimal side. Whatever type of cowboy boot you buy, you can be sure they will be back in style for years to come. Sock boots have been making their way back onto the scene for years. I bought a pair of black ones by Steve Madden and I love them. They’re sleek, simple and elegant they look good under almost any outfit you can imagine. I definitely recommend investing in a pair of sock boots.

Overshirts
I can’t tell you how happy I am because overshirts are back in style. If you’re a t-shirt-and- jeans-kinda-girl like me, you’ll definitely be able to appreciate them. Mainly because overshirts are perfect for adding a bit of flair to your basic outfits. I love them in muted colors or with a good checkered pattern. The oversized ones look cozy yet street and casual. It’s such a great piece to have if you want to quickly look a bit cooler and interesting. Overshirts will also be in style for spring and summer, so you can also use them as a layering piece for the seasons to come.

Colors and patterns
The wintry weather may turn the skies grey, but you can add some color in your winter outfits for contrast. This winter season has some really good colors and patterns to choose from. Think animal prints, pastels and muted primary colors. The best part of investing in items with those prints and colors, is that you can use them for spring as well. The upcoming trends for spring and summer show an overlap, which is perfect if you work with themes for your (capsule) wardrobes. You can easily re-use a leopard print blouse in your spring wardrobe. Mix that pink overshirt with a black spring dress and boom! Your outfit is an eyecatcher within moments.

I hope these winter outfits and style tips give you some inspiration for the last month of winter. I personally love squeezing out the last outfits for this great season before I start shopping for spring. I’ve been really good at getting the most out of my winter capsule wardrobe. There I say I’m quite proud about that? Yes, I do! Let me know what you think of my outfits and which winter pieces you really can’t live without.
Stay stylish,
