Burt’s bees has been one of my favorite brands for years. I have bought their Almond and milk hand cream a million times. I actually like a lot of their products and decided to try the Burt’s bees peach and willow bark scrub too. I bought it last week and I couldn’t wait to try it. I’m a big fan of scrubs with bigger scrub particles or beats. My mother used to have a peach scrub with such particles and I love it a lot. I was hoping that this peach and willow bark scrub would be the same or even better. Unfortunately, I can’t say I like it and I will tell you why, let’s go!

Pros
You can’t go wrong with Burt’s bees if you want a natural product for your skin. The upside of the Burt’s bees peach and willow bark scrub is that it’s free of parabens, phthalates and petrolatum. They say they don’t test on animals and I like that their products are always soft enough for my skin. This scrub is soft as well and it contains some pretty good hydrating ingredients. Water and grape seed oil are high on the list. I could also see a good amount of coconut oil on the ingredient list, nice!

Cons
Sigh… Where to begin? This scrub really is such a disappointment. It started with the smell, which I really can’t stand. It smells like the product is past the expiration date, but it’s a natural product so the ‘moldy smell’ comes with the territory. I didn’t want to give up, so I got into the shower and started scrubbing my face. I immediately noticed that the scrub particles weren’t really present. I kept getting more product whilst trying to get a good scrub on.
Unfortunately this scrub isn’t as packed with the peach and willow bark as I thought. I never was able to give my face a good scrub. Another thing that really bothers me is the formula of the scrub. It’s more like a cream instead of a liquid exfoliant. I could feel a layer of the creamy formula building up on my face and it was very off-putting. It made me feel like my skin was suffocating under a layer of cream instead of cleansing my pores.
My face was left with a strange layer of product which felt sticky and quite oily, which is the worst for my skin. Mostly because I have eczema and products that prevent my skin from breathing make it worse. I did the ‘scratch test’ to see if I was exaggerating. I simply and gently scraped a layer of my skin with my nails. Just to see if there would be any residue left under my nails and there was. I could literally scrape of the scrub because it was building up so quickly, blegh! I immediately grabbed my favorite scrub by Philosophy and got that gunky feeling layer of my skin.
The verdict
This is not the scrub for me! I use scrubs to cleanse my pores and to get dirt of my face. Which is very important to me because I have eczema. This Burt’s bees peach and willow bark scrub seems to trap dirt on my face under a sticky layer. It also doesn’t contain enough scrub particles to exfoliate my skin well enough. And I don’t mind spending money on skincare, but this product is way too expensive for what you get. I’ve had cheaper scrubs with better results. Even a simple drugstore scrub will get you better results.
Needless to say, I won’t buy this scrub again. I think Burt’s bees needs to rethink the formula and create a scrub that actually exfoliates. I’m not to only one complaining about this scrub. I have seen many people complain about it online. Mostly because you can’t really call this a scrub, in other peoples and my opinion. Don’t buy this scrub if you are looking for that clean feeling and a really good exfoliating session. Because this product will not provide that for you. So, on to the next scrub because I’m giving this one away.
Have you tried this scrub and what’s your opinion?
